This week’s tasks

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

The below is the list of the things I’d like to tackle this week:

1. Read Sanchez(2000). Understand the content and make notes of any questions or research ideas.

2. Talk with Prof. M. about the research directions and seek his advice.

3. Have the Delphi tasks checked by M.

4. Work on the next set of tasks

5. Finish the 1st reading of Bradley and Meek

About the presentation

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Yeah! It’s over. I did my best presenting. I received some very helpful advice on the future research. One is to conduct a case study, rather than another experimental study.

1) I could sit with a learner and see how she interacts with the text. She could go through all different programs and collect data. I need to formulate research questions beforehand.

2) I definitely look at the longer term treatment with hundreds of words. I need to use more sensitve instrument to assess vocabulary gain using, for example, a Self Rating Test.

 3) I could use the Matrix model with the SRT to predict a long-term retention under different treatments.

Since I was able to introdcued myself in the presentation, others know who I am and why I’m here. This would make it easier to talk about research with them more in the future.

It’s been a while to post a message. I’ve forgotten about this useful tool. I want to use it to keep record of my study here in Swansea, UK.  Tomorrow I have to give a presention for Research Seminar Group. It consists of faculty memebers and students whoever are interested in research.  I’m a bit anxious but most of all am excited about the opportunity.
